Fundraising and Marketing Intern

Atlanta, GA
✓ Cause-Driven

CARE Enterprises Inc. (CEI) is a private, for-profit subsidiary of CARE that acts as the organization’s global impact investment vehicle.  CEI is launching its first $50m blended, impact-first fund that will invest in South and Southeast Asian businesses to create “gender justice” for women and marginalized people through the creation of dignified employment and greater access to markets.  With CARE’s in-depth knowledge and deep understanding of local customs, laws and politics, CEI mobilizes investors, donors and corporations to identify, fund and launch successful poverty-fighting enterprises.

CEI is currently seeking a Fundraising & Marketing Intern to join our small, nimble and entrepreneurial team. Roles and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting market research (desk and interview-based) on investor and donor prospects for the fund including government entities, foundations, corporations, family offices, and high net-worth individuals
  • Creating profiles of high-priority prospects to be shared with the CEI team, its partners, and CARE fundraisers
  • Liaising with select CARE fundraisers to identify likely investor and donor prospects for CEI within their specific networks and regions
  • Assisting in the design and production of internal and external marketing material and maintaining/updating existing marketing materials as needed
  • Assisting CEI’s Managing Director and Principal in tracking the fund’s investor prospects and keeping the fund’s customer relationship management (CRM) system up-to-date;
  • Assisting CEI’s Principal in the development of proposals to prospective donors or investors
  • Keeping project management systems up-to-date and acting as administrative project back-stopper, as required (keeping minutes, coordinating meetings, etc.)

CEI is looking for an adaptive self-starter – one that is enthusiastic about the power of the private sector and impact investing to make a better, more just world – to join our two-person team.  A successful candidate will thrive in entrepreneurial settings, will work well autonomously and remotely, and will bring to the organization:

  • Experience working on/with fundraising teams
  • Proven PowerPoint and graphic design skills
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Previous professional experience as a management consultant preferred
  • Business and/or financial acumen preferred
  • A proven track-record as an organized, detail-oriented, project manager
  • An ability to work 15-20 hours/week (flexible/remote work is possible)

The intern will report to CEI’s Principal and Impact and will work closely with CEI’s Managing Director.

Suggested duration (weeks or months) of the internship: 3 months

Suggested start date: ASAP

Suggested end date: June 2020

Suggested hours per week: 15-20

Please note this internship is for academic credit and not for pay.
